Rodney Atkins has released a brand-new single, "Caught Up in the Country," his first new music since 2014. Readers can press play above to hear the track.

The lead single from Atkins' up coming fifth studio album, "Caught Up in the Country" finds the singer partnering up with the historic Fisk Jubilee Singers from Nashville's Fisk College. Atkins previously collaborated with the powerful choir during a live event and felt compelled to include them when he set out to make his new album.

“Listening to the Fisk Jubilee Singers with their hand-clapping and foot-stomping music is really a spiritual experience,” Atkins says in a press release. “When I heard "Caught Up in the Country," I just felt like the two things had to come together. It doesn’t sound like anything I’ve recorded or released before, and that also excites me."

The upbeat echo of Atkins' newest single makes for a contagious country anthem. While the choir-backed tune takes a slightly poppier turn than Atkins' fans might be used to, its lyrics are 100-percent in line with the artist's die-hard country-boy style.

"Square bales, flat beds, clotheslines, sunsets, sky blue, barn red / Windchimes, front porch, good dogs, wood floors, work boots, open doors / Miles and miles of John Deere green / Freedom far as I can see / The road to run and room to breathe," Adkins sings in "Caught Up in the Country." "That's who I am and I'll always be / Caught up in the country / The only way I wanna be / Somewhere where the road ends / Out there where the creek bends / That's where you can find me."

Adkins' forthcoming new album will be his first new full-length project since 2011, when he released Take a Back Road. In the interim, he's released a greatest hits project (in 2015); he's also gotten married, to fellow artist Rose Falcon, and welcomed his second son in December.
