Nashville Metro Police arrested a man on Tuesday (Aug. 27) and charged him with arson, saying he tried to set the Ryman Auditorium on fire. Jeffrey Parsley allegedly admitted to trying to light newspapers in an attempt to burn the back door of country music's most hallowed venue.

The 52-year-old's address is listed as Church St., which runs just one block behind the Ryman Auditorium. WTVF-TV in Nashville reports that flames rose several feet high and lasted for a few minutes before firefighters arrived and extinguished the fire.

The incident, which occurred on Aug. 18, was caught on surveillance cameras. Parsley was arrested, with his bond set at $20,000. No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident, and the extent of the damage has not been revealed. The next scheduled event to take place at the Ryman is on Sept. 8.
