Just like teachers, many doctors come into and out of your life.  Some are just a hiccup through your journey and some change your life and leave a lasting impression.   I have had a handful of doctors that have put me on the right path and helped me on so many levels...especially as someone who used to suffer from debilitating anxiety.   So many deserve recognition. ..but this isn't the Academy Awards and I can't mention everyone.  But today, on National Doctor Day, I want to take the opportunity to thank the doctor who helped me conquer chiari!

Dr. Bolognese , Director of Chiari Neurosurgical Center at NSPC in NY , changed my life in a matter of 10 and a half hours.  6 weeks ago, today, he performed  (in his words) a brutal surgery to help correct my chiari malformation and craniocervical instability.   As a result, I can cough & laugh without severe pain.  I have headache free days (knock on wood).  I suffered long enough and somehow the universe brought me to Dr. Bolognese.

Dr. Bolognese works with thousands of patients and yet somehow makes you feel like your his only patient.  If I have a question,  I send an email and within 24 hours he responds.  Even if it's just 3 words or 3 sentences.  His patients matter to him.

On this day, National Doctors Day...and coincidentally my 6 week Zipperversary. ..I hope Dr. Bolognese has a truly fabulous day and knows how much his patients appreciate him.  We do not take him for granted.

This surgery usually takes months to recover from.  After only 6 weeks, I'm returning to work on April 4th.  I can't wait to get back on the air!
