If you receive a call from someone claiming that you have won an award from the Department of Health and Human Services, you probably just want to hang up!

According to WCSH 6, Maine Attorney General Janet Mills is warning people about a phone scam where the caller tells the recipient they have been selected to get an award from DHHS.

The potential victim is then asked for $200 to get access to the award.

Mills says people should contact her office if they feel they are the victim of this, or any other, scam.  Her office can be reached at 207.626.8800
