Not only did the Portland Sea Dogs win their franchise record-tying 86th game of the season Friday night, they also clinched the division for the first time in 9 years.Despite several of the organization's top prospects leaving the team this season after receiving promotions to Pawtucket, the system showed its depth as new players allowed them to continue their dominant play. The division title is the 5th in Sea Dogs history and they still have three games left on the regular season schedule to try and set a new record for wins in a season.

Portland begins its playoff run Wednesday on the road in Binghamton for the first two games in a best-of-five series. Games 3, 4, and 5 will be at Hadlock Field next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The Sea Dogs will be trying for their first Eastern League Championship since 2006.
