Sharon and Dr. Pepper at ’10-2 & 4′ with Tim McGraw
I asked Chad to pick up something to drink on the way home before dinner. I was really thirsty. So he picked up three different things:
A flavored water for me, one for Bradley and he got himself a Dr. Pepper.
And it wasn’t just ANY Dr. Pepper…
Dr. Pepper is Chad’s favorite soda. I thought nothing of what he bought until I saw the bottle it came in.
Yes…the GLASS bottle.
It was a throwback bottle from the 1950s & 1960s when Dr. Pepper was a featured ad on ‘The 10-2-4 Ranch’, a radio program out of the south.
When I saw the bottle I automatically thought of Tim McGraw’s song ‘Back When’. Chad said that was why he bought it! I had to know what it meant about the ‘peanuts in a bottle at 10, 2 & 4′. Then I remembered Barbara Mandrell singing about ‘peanuts in my Coke.’
What is it all about??
Dr. Pepper is actually a year OLDER than Coke. It started in 1885 in Waco, Texas. And, in Texas, everyone calls soda ‘COKE’. I guess it’s easier than ‘Pepper’.
But the peanuts? It’s simple.
It makes Dr. Pepper fizz. And, the salt from the peanuts makes it taste good, too!
So, have yourself a ‘Pepper’ and throw some peanuts in it. See how it tastes. It will take you ‘Back When’.
