The show 'Who Do You Think You Are?' has returned to television and last night Kelly Clarkson, the first American Idol, was helped to trace her roots back to her 3 times great grandfather only to find him a respected Senator who was an escaped prisoner from the Andersonville prisoner of war camp during the Civil War.

WHAT?

How do they find this stuff out?

It really is amazing what you can find about your ancestors with just a little digging. My mom always said we were related to the King of Italy. Personally, I didn't even know there WAS a king of Italy. I haven't reached that far yet. You can find some things instantly on the internet but some things take a little bit of digging.

There are many sites you can go to including Ancestry.com but, with myself being a Latter-Day Saint, I go to Familysearch.com. And it's FREE! We Mormons are big on family history. A while ago, the church sent out many members to make copies of village, town and city documents to compile the LARGEST collection of geneological information in the world. It's easy to navigate and it really is amazing what you find.

Below is a picture of the 1940 Census from Connecticut and it shows my grandfather, Roy Everlith, was a truck driver for a local store! See what you can find about YOUR family!
