Sledding, it was one of my favorite childhood memories of winter in Maine. Sliding down the hill behind the Cotes' yard on Pettingill Street in Lewiston. Sometimes we'd go to Davis Mountain at Bates College. Now some cities are banning sledding!

They are banning sledding due to liability concerns. One of the most recent communities that banned sledding is Dubuque, Iowa. They banned it in all but two of 50 city parks.

More than 20,000 children each year, between 1997 and 2007, were treated at emergency rooms for sledding-related injuries.

The Dubuque city council decided on the ban as they pointed at lawsuits over the past decade. One lawsuit was for a $2 million judgement against Omaha, Nebraska, after a 5-year-old girl was paralyzed when she hit a tree.

So what do you think of a ban on sledding? Good idea or too politically correct?
