Old Fort Western in Augusta will open for the 2016 season on May 28 & 29 from 11 to 4. On Memorial Day, May 30 they will be open from 10 to 4.

On Monday Mayor David Rollins along with other dignitaries will hold a special ceremony at 1 p.m. to remember all soldiers and to sign a special Community Covenant recognizing Augusta as a Military friendly Community.

Also on Monday there will be a demonstration of life as an 18th century Revolutionary War soldier and their role at the fort. During the ceremony there will be the raising of the colors, a musket volley by Daniel Savage’s Company and music by the Liberty String band and a Military band.

Admission is $10 for adults, $6 for children, $8 for seniors and veterans and $25 for a family. Augusta residents and active military are free.
