It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and while all the pink we see on the players during NFL games in October mainly focuses our attention on how the disease affects women and what they can do about it, we should also keep in mind (or learn) that men, too, can contract breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, one in 1,000 men will fall victim to the disease, which claims the life of at least one man every day.

Two Major Cancer Awareness Events Raise a Record Amount of Money This Weekend

More than $1.5 million was raised this weekend during two major cancer awareness events in Maine.

The 16th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk drew more than 1,500 participants in Portland alone. Other walks were held in Brunswick, Kittery and Damariscotta Sunday.

Man Discovers Skin Cancer on Scalp While Shaving Head To Support Wife’s Cancer

Talk about your lucky breaks.

Bud Stringer walked into a barber shop recently with a noble goal. His wife of twenty years, Dolly, was losing her hair due to the chemotherapy she had to take for breast cancer, and Bud wanted to show support by shaving his head as well.

Good thing too, as it revealed a cancerous melanoma on his scalp.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  In 2012, over 226,000 Americans are expected to be diagonsed with a new case of breast cancer and of that over 2,100 will be men. Also, in 2012 over 39,000 Americans deaths are expected from breast cancer (statistics from Susan G.Komen for the cure). Breast cancer is a very personal in my life.
