Last night's 2014 'How I Met Your Mother' premiere "Slapsgiving 3: Slappointment in Slapmarra" ran the gamut from elaborate loveletter to the series' best recurring gag, to another uneventful installment of the ninth and final season, but if nothing else, it gave us one unforgettable ending. We didn't bother keeping up with CBS' Stephen King drama, 'Under the Dome,' in its initial 2013 run, given how far-fetched the sci-fi story quickly became, but will the people of Chester's Mill have a brighter day in season 2? CBS has officially set a premiere for Dean Norris and co. to return, along with a date for Stephen Spielberg-Halle Berry drama 'Extant.'

Unexpected, but okay! We were a bit disappointed to learn that 'The Office' star Rainn Wilson wouldn't return to TV as soon as we'd hoped, given that CBS declined to pick up the comic actor's buzzworthy police procedural 'Backstrom,' but it seems FOX has taken a big shot on Wilson with a full series order for the discarded drama.

Well, this is an odd play for the Trade Federation CBS.
