Bowl season has started with the National Championship game coming on January 6 with Florida State and Auburn. This early in the bowl season there are a lot of teams with records of 8-5, 7-6 and some top 25 teams that just didn’t cut it for a larger bowl. Here’s Saturdays wrap up.

It looks like Auburn will get their wish and play for the National Championship in college football. The #3 Tigers beat #5 Missouri 59-42 to win the SEC Championship game but they needed #10 Michigan State to beat the undefeated Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big 10 Championship and the Spartans did.

There was no shortage of exciting finishes or incredible performances on Saturday. Week 12 of the 2013 college football season produced its share of highlights. Here are five things we learned:

Alabama showed why they are #1 in College Football with a convincing win over rival LSU 38-17. The Crimson Tide played cupcakes the last four weeks and were scoring points at will but LSU’s defense was supposed to give the some competition, and they did in the first half. LSU moved the ball well in the first half too, even with two fumbles lost, the score was tied at 17-17 at the half.

The national title picture came a little more into focus with Oregon falling (again) to Stanford. But there is still a lot that can happen as we enter the season's final month. Here's what we learned in Week 11 that could shake up the season.

It is week 10 in College Football and #1 Alabama had the week off. On October 5th the Michigan Wolverines beat Minnesota to win the oldest division rival trophy, ‘The Little Brown Jug’, but this Saturday they lost to Michigan State and the Spartans won the second oldest division rival trophy ‘The Paul Bunyan Trophy’. State won 29-6.

Alabama at #1 had a slow start to the year but lately they have been playing like a number one team. They had no trouble with Tennessee in a 45-10 win. Both offensively and defensively the Crimson Tide looks good. Florida State jumped to Number 2 after last week’s impressive win on the road against Clemson and they look like a number two beating North Carolina State 40-17.

It was a week of upsets in college football as seven of the top 20 teams lost. #6 LSU fell to Ole Miss 27-24 as LSU’s QB threw 3 interceptions. #7 Texas A&M lost to #24 Auburn in a shootout 45-41. Unranked UCF scored 24 consecutive points to beat #8 Louisville 38-35.

Oregon is by far the most stylish team in college football. The Ducks, thanks to Nike, have a mind-blowing number of uniform combinations, each more eye-catching than the next. Now, the team has focused its attention on wearing a uniform for a cause, as it plans on sporting pink shoes, socks and helmets to raise funds for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. After six games each, Alabama and Oregon have separated themselves as the two best teams in college football, with each squad tearing through its schedule thus far. But which team is the best college football has to offer: the Crimson Tide or the Ducks?

Week 7 of college football saw four upsets in the top 20. Number 5 Stanford fell to unranked Utah 27-21, Utah’s first win against a top 5 opponent in school history. After outlasting LSU last week, #7 Georgia lost to #25 Missouri 41-26, the first time Missouri beat a top 10 team on the road in 32 years.
