Preparation is key when it comes to weathering a storm like Hurricane Sandy. We need extra food, extra candles and an adorable distraction to get us through it all-- our doggie pals.
Few things brighten our day more than puppies. They're troopers when it comes to adorably tortuous makeovers, after all. OK, so they might not be superfans of unfortunate haircuts or miniature shoes. But we've discovered something dogs really enjoy-- celebrating their birthdays. What's not to love about party hats and cupcakes made out of dog food and blowing out candles and noisemakers?! Our poin
We've said this before, and we'll say it again-- puppies and kids are a match made in adorable heaven, especially when they're playing together. How do they pull it off? We have no idea, nor are we questioning.
Here's a little something to brighten your (possibly cloudy, rainy, windy) day. It's the opening credits of the Showtime program 'Dexter' performed by a dog!
You may have heard about Obie the Obese Dachshund, a dog that weighs 77 pounds and is literally twice the weight of a healthy dog. The good news is that Obie is currently on a diet and engaged in hydrotherapy (he's too fat to walk, literally.) The bad news is that he's currently the center of a bitter custody battle.
Dressing up our furry friends means they're usually subject to embarrassment among other pups. However, we think it's the small price they pay for being so darn adorable. That being said, we've already made our Star-Wars-meets-puppies obsession pretty clear, what with the discovery of Ewok dogs and Princess Leia pugs. Could the fantasy flick and canine combo get any cuter?! Luckily for us, yes.

To celebrate the release of one of our favorite blogs-turned-books, 'Underwater Dogs,' here are some pictures that helped bring photographer Seth Casteel such great success. If you love them, you can find more in his book, which is available here and makes for much better conversation than your current coffee table book, 'Our Bodies, Ourselves.'
By now, you've probably seen the hilarious 'Saturday Night Live' spoofs of Brad Pitt's melodramatic Chanel No. 5 commercial. (If not, watch them here.) Now it seems a dog has gotten into the mix, offering a canine take on Brad's weird ad. Funny thing is, this pooch does a much better job as a spokesperson than Pitt.
There are two things we know for sure about puppies: they’re unpredictably hilarious and sometimes have adorably strange antics. Remember our favorite dogs going to town on peanut butter? That’s the kind of silly stuff we love.
Well canine fans of all ages, we’ve discovered dogs have yet another highly underrated quirk, and it comes in the form of shoes.
Hundreds of canines and their proud owners dolled up in their Halloween best this past Saturday for the 2012 Tompkins Square Park Halloween Dog Parade.
If there's one thing we can't get enough of, it's videos of animals with lightsabers, and this, which shows an evil Sith dog squaring off against a young Jedi, may be the best of the bunch.
A teacup Chihuahua named Molly has bitten off more than she can chew as far as one Canadian city is concerned. The three-pound dog recently bit a postal worker, and now authorities in Windsor say she is a “dangerous dog” and have ordered that she be muzzled and kept on a leash at all times.
This is Aero. He went to the vet for treatment, which he recovered handily. But in the meantime, this is what he sounds like when he's expressing displeasure under sedation. The results sound eerily similar to Chewbacca:
So that's how they did it...
Charlie Head is already the kind of guy who kind of makes you look bad, and he's about to make you look worse. He's an extreme paddleboarder who was on his way from Cornwall to London when he happened to notice something on a small collection of rocks...
Last Wednesday, a 10-year-old boy with Down syndrome was found alive in the woods after he went missing from his home the previous day. But here's the part that the internet will love -- he survived by huddling with a pack of puppies for warmth. Sadly, no cats or corgis were involved as far as we know.
Non-dog owners will often cringe when they see a canine take a big lick of human face.
And there may be something to their revulsion. According to a new study published in the Archives of Oral Biology dog owners have high rates of a type of dangerous mouth bacteria.
