According to the website MaineGasPrices.com, the average retail price of a gallon of gas in Maine rose more than two cents this past week to $3.54. The website surveys more than 1,200 gas stations in Maine. Maine's gas prices are 28 cents higher than the national average.

The towns of Norway and Paris have the lowest gas prices in the state of Maine, according to the latest findings from mainegasprices.com. Several gas stations in Norway and Paris had a price of $3.31 per gallon.

The latest Lundberg Survey shows that gas prices in the United States have dropped by 46 cents a gallon over the past two months. The average price of regular gasoline is $3.38 a gallon.

Mainers and Americans will be hitting the road in mass this week as the holiday travel season kicks off. The good news is gas prices in Maine remained stable at $3.60 per gallon this week. That is 20 cents per gallon less than last month but 15 cents higher per gallon than last Thanksgiving.
