With the temperatures and snow falling faster than Congress' approval ratings, Mainers are facing higher prices to heat their homes. The Governor's Energy Office reports that the average statewide cost for No.2 heating oil was $3.76 per gallon, up four cents from last week.

With an early onset of very cold and snowy weather, heating oil prices are rising steadily in Maine. A weekly survey has found that average cash price for home heating oil has gone up two cents in Maine to $3.66 per gallon.

With one of the coldest mornings of the season so far, the news from the Governor's Energy Office isn't good for Mainers who use heating oil to heat their homes.

We have had a very cold start to December and as the furnaces start to kick in the cost of heating fuel in Maine is costing Mainers more. The Governor's Energy Office said earlier this week that its weekly survey found the average price for home heating oil has risen 5 cents to $3.61 a gallon.

The nights are growing colder and longer, but Mainers aren't seeing a huge seasonal spike in heating oil prices.
