When Ali Clair of China was in the office recently talking about being the new Miss Maine USA, I learned that in this contest the contestants do not pick their platform, but the overall Miss USA Pageant has its charitable alliances with organizations dedicated to raising awareness for breast and ovarian cancer. Whether it’s encouraging women to get a mammogram or advocating for more ovarian cancer research in D.C., Miss USA is committed to fighting for every woman who is battling breast or ovarian cancer. A company named Powerful is introducing a Greek yogurt for men to meet the health and needs of an active male. The new yogurt will be called ‘Powerful Yogurt’ and is an all- natural snack/meal.

Also, in 2012 over 39,000 Americans deaths are expected from breast cancer (statistics from Susan G.Komen for the cure). Breast cancer is a very personal in my life.

A pet dog has tested positive for rabies for the first time in 9 years in Maine. State epidemiologist Dr. Stephen Sears said the dog was reported to animal control in Kennebec County after becoming aggressive and biting it's owner. The owner was treated for rabies exposure.
