Wilson Lake 'Ice Out' Contest Returns For 2013

The Ice Out contest for Wilson Lake will be returning after being gone for a few years. Bruce Dyke is organizing the event for the Wilton Fish & Game Association. Dyke tells the Lewiston Sun-Journal that he suggested and volunteered to organize the event. It will cost $5 an entry, with the winner guessing the closest month, day, hour and minute for ice out on Wilson Lake. The prize is $100.

Yes, it has been cold, but Maine has not had enough sustained cold temperatures to create that much safe ice. So check the ice to make sure it's thick enough before you go out on it.
