The 4th of July is the day the thirteen colonies claimed their independence from England that is why it’s known as Independence Day. The conflict between the colonies and England was already a year old when they convened a Continental Congress in Philadelphia.
While we enjoyed a three-day weekend for the celebration of Memorial Day, which is always the last Monday in May, the next holidays on the calendar are Flag Day on Friday, June 14th and Father’s Day on Sunday, June 16th but neither of those holidays offer us a three-day weekend.
