Tree Street Youth is an after-school center for at risk students. The center offers enrichment classes and tutoring. The Lewiston 'Tree Street Youth' is on Howe Street and is currently in the running to win a $25,000 prize.
The Lewiston School Committee voted unanimously Monday night on the school budget that would increase property taxes 5.4 percent. That would translate for a home valued at $150,000 in Lewiston to a tax increase of $72.

The makers of Jim Beam bourbon announced that it will shut down production at its Lewiston facility and shift that work to a facility in Kentucky. 160 people work in the Beam’s plant in Lewiston that makes Pinnacle Vodka and Calico Jack Rum.
Geiger of Lewiston plans on laying off more than 100 factory employees and ending the manufacturing side of its' business. The 135 year old company made the announcement Tuesday (Jan. 22) saying it's one of the largest layoffs in the company's history.
