Augusta Salvation Army Leaders Leaving For Pennsylvania

Captains Michael and Wendy Morrison will be leaving the Augusta Salvation Army next month to move to Pennsylvania. The Morrisons have been in Augusta for four years. Karen and David Dickson will be leaving their positions as directors of the Salvation Army in Waterville to take a similar posts in Augusta.

Maine Army National Guard Troops Coming Home

Members from the 126th Aviation Medevac Unit of the Maine Army National Guard will be returning to Maine this afternoon after a year-long deployment to Kuwait. The 126th landed at Fort Hood in Texas on Wednesday and will be back in Bangor this afternoon.

Shock and sadness overspread Camp Keyes in Augusta this week with the unexpected passing of longtime Maine Army National Guard leader, Lt. Col. Michael J. Backus of Wilton. Backus died unexpectedly on Monday while performing duties at Camp Keyes.

Getting Ready for Central Maine’s Largest Food Drive, ‘Tanksgiving’

 

I started working at B-98.5 in August of 2000 and that November we started our annual 'Tanksgiving Food Drive' with the Maine Army National Guard. The idea was that of Randy McCoy's former morning co-host, Genny Judge. That first year, Genny lived in the tank at Camp Keyes, through cold and rain as we collected non-perishable food for Central Maine.
