American Legion: Post 51 of Oakland won then Zone 1 Championship with a 4-3 victory over Coffee News of Bangor. The Augusta 15 and under Babe Ruth team beat Cranston, R.I., 2-1 in Connecticut. That advanced them to the single elimination semifinals. Their first game is Monday. Boston Red Sox: routed the Detroit Tigers 11-1.

Nine local high school field hockey teams will take part in the 5th annual Battle for Breast Cancer Tournament at Thomas College Saturday. It's a benefit for the Martha B. Webber Breast Care Center at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. The Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl Classic, featuring High School Senior All-Star football players, is Saturday in Biddeford.
