Morning Buzz

Yesterday, we went shopping at Walmart in Waterville to get just a few things. This was around 4:45. The parking lot was light in cars so we thought we would have a quick trip in and out. That was not the case. Unfortunately, a trip that would have taken a half hour took an hour and and 45 minutes! BUT...there is something wonderful that happened while in line. It was a typical day at the Buck-Hood household. Sleeping in on a Sunday, laundry and dishes...same old same old. Until THEY came! We had a few additions to the family last night and, boy, was it fun!

This coming Thanksgiving will see a very rare occurrence, one we will never see again in our lifetime. Thanksgiving and the beginning of Hanukkah will be on the same day. The last time this happened was in 1888, at least the last time it happened since President Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a federal holiday. The next time it will happen is a long, long, long time from now.

On Saturday, the St. Louis Cardinals beat the LA Dodgers 1-0 to take a 2-0 lead in the NLCS but it was Game 1 of the series on Friday that made history. The Cardinals won that game 3-2 in 13 innings making it the 12th longest game in MLB post season history. Game 3 is tonight.

Week 7 of college football saw four upsets in the top 20. Number 5 Stanford fell to unranked Utah 27-21, Utah’s first win against a top 5 opponent in school history. After outlasting LSU last week, #7 Georgia lost to #25 Missouri 41-26, the first time Missouri beat a top 10 team on the road in 32 years.

We've waited all year and now we can celebrate! It's Randy's birthday! YAY!!

My birthday was Sunday and I told Chad I didn't need anything for my birthday but cake and family. And that's exactly what I got...and a couple other things. But the final gift didn't come until yesterday. And I am so glad it did!

I remember as I was growing up I would from time to time read Archie comic books. Veronica, Betty, Jughead, Moose and the gang were always funny and upbeat and the town of Riverdale was like an all- American city.  A new series of Archie comics will take a turn to the dark side.

The boats are ready to go and so are the crews but they are just sitting and waiting for the Government shutdown to be resolved. The federal shutdown means no crabbing permits can be handed out to the dozens of boats ready for red king crab season in Alaska.

The kids are really going to town on their story books. They get more and more creative with each one. I will decipher them for you because, well, Jayden is only 6 and Anderson is 7. They have come along way with their spelling! Just a year ago, Jayden could barely read so for her to be writing these stories is quite remarkable!

We gave away tickets to see Bob Marley Sunday at the Camden Opera House. We had two Brainbusters. Did you get the answers correct?

The man of steel is coming to Ohio as an aluminum license plate. The State is selling Superman license plates with the super ‘S’ on them to recognize the Superman comic book being created in Ohio. Starting this month plates will be available for an extra $20, plus the annual renewal few, and will come with the Superman logo, name, and the words ‘Truth, Justice, and the American Way’.

The press is having a fun time with it, calling the perpetrator ‘the poopetrator’ but Yale University isn’t amused at all. They believed someone has been pooping in clothes dryers at the college. They thought they caught the person but a couple of weeks later they struck again.

I like to watch the Today Show when I have a morning off of the Morning Buzz. I have seen Matt Lauer on there for years. He's, personally, not one of my favorites but he delivers the news. Last night, I was watching TV and he was in a CREEPY ad!! I didn't understand what was going on til the end. And I STILL find it CREEPY!

The Great Chicago Fire of 1871 was blamed on a cow, probably the most famous cow in history: Mrs. O’Leary’s cow. The fire started in the barn and destroyed 3.5 square miles of the city, killed 120 and left thousands of other homeless. But did the cow start the fire?

I know Transformers are so 2009...but after seeing this costume, they are still cool! This kid has Heelys on for sneakers and a Bumblebee costume from Transformers. Tell me he isn't the coolest kid in town?
