A few weeks ago, it was looking like the Cumberland County Civic Center and Time Warner Cable might not reach an agreement to air the Class A High Basketball Championship games on  Maine Public Broadcasting Network. The dispute centered around Time Warner's cable link in the civic center, which was removed during the civic center renovations.

MPBN has been airing Maine high school basketball tournament games for 35 years. They will continue to air the games this season. Games from Augusta,and Bangor will be covered, however, the Class A state finals in Portland will not be televised by MPBN. Here's why they won't be on.

Legislative leaders have said OK to Maine Public Broadcasting Network and expanding State House coverage. It should be kind of like a local version of C-SPAN. The idea was approved by the House and Senate leaders. The free, over-the-air MPBN State House TV channel is devoted exclusively to coverage of the Legislature and government affairs.

Hey I get this one. I know Sunday night the TV will be on the AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens and my DVR will be recording my 'Downton Abbey,' but not everyone has that option OR wants to wait until the next day to get their 'Downton' fix.
