Should Police Departments Be Allowed to Use Unmanned Drones? — Survey of the Day

Recently, Congress directed the FAA to revise its safety regulations on unmanned aircraft, clearing the way for more domestic use of drones. This would mean, among other things, that local police departments would be freer to use drones for surveillance.

While having a movable eye in the sky would clearly aid the cops in some of their duties, it also presents civil-liberties issues.  According to a new survey of 1,006 adults from the Associated Press-National Constitution Center , the public is split on whether police departments should have this new tool.

Dexter Drug Bust

Dexter police were investigating an 'extremely loud' music complaint and ended up finding what they call a marijuana growing operation. Dexter police chief, Kevin White, says that he and another officer were on routine patrol when they came to the area from which the music was blasting. Chief White says he smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from an open window in the home.

A random drug search at Gardiner High School, resulted in charges of the sale and use of drug paraphernalia and unlawful drug possession. 44-year old, Tyson Greifzu of Fayette, a math teacher at Gardiner High School since 2000 was charged along with two 16-year old boys.
