The Portland City Council formed a Green Packaging Working Group earlier in 2013 and assigned it to develop ordinances to eliminate sales of food and drinks in polystyrene packing, better known as the brand name Styrofoam and to reduce the use of plastic shopping bags in Portland.

Cruise ships have been in the news recently. Fortunately this disabled cruise ship has been towed safely to Mobile, Alabama. Despite the recent negative news about cruise ships, Cruise Maine, a Windham-based organization that promotes Maine ports to the cruise ship industry, estimates a 17 percent increase in passengers visiting Maine in 2013.

Maine Drivers Warned Of Zombies

Drivers earlier this week in Portland probably did a double take at a construction road sign. The electronic construction sign read 'warning zombies ahead!' The sign was suppose to read, 'Night work 8pm to 6am expect delays'. This was an early Halloween prank that did not amuse city officals.
