Two weeks ago, the Earth came close a catastrophe from a nuclear flare from the sun. Massive surges of energy or electromagnetic pulses, known as EMP’s, could have knocked out electrical equipment all over the planet.

The hunt for Bigfoot has taken a turn toward the latest technology -  drones. At Idaho State University, Jeffery Meldrum believes drones will be the edge needed to locate the ever-elusive Sasquatch. The project is called “The Falcon Project’, it's a 45-foot drone equipped with cameras, in hope of solving the mystery of Bigfoot.

A gang of feral cats, which are domestic cats that have returned to the wild, attacked a woman and her dog in Belfort in Eastern France. While walking in the woods, the cats attacked, knocking the woman to the ground and causing injuries, forcing her to go the hospital for medical attention.

National Chicken Wing Day is Monday, July 29th with the big celebration in Buffalo, New York, home of the Buffalo Wing, over the Labor Day Weekend. The festival never existed before 2001 but was inspired by the movie Osmosis Jones when Bill Murray was a chicken wing addict and wanted nothing more than to attend the National Wing Festival in Buffalo.

It’s chili dog week, which is a favorite topping for some to put on their hot dog. It seems every region in the United States has their favorite hot dog and toppings. Here in Maine, the preferred hot dog is the ‘red dogs’ or ‘snappers’. Some people grill them for the best snap and place them on a buttered roll, others prefer them steamed.

The United States Postal Service loses about $25 million a day and in an effort to save the USPS, there had been talk of eliminating Saturday deliveries, but that idea was nixed by Congress, which has control over these matters. So, how does Congress propose to save the Postal Service? One piece of proposed legislation is known as ‘cluster mail’.

The Hannibal Cavemen are a summer collegiate baseball team that plays in Missouri, made up of mostly college players looking to hone their skills. Mattingly Romanin is a sophomore at Chicago State University and plays shortstop for the Cavemen. He also has the distinction of sustaining an injury that had nothing to do with playing baseball.

Dancers from 44 countries gathered in Dublin, Ireland, on the banks of the River Liffey, to set the world record for River Dancing. The first show ever of River Dance was led by New Yorker Jean Butler and she was on hand to lead the dancers that came as far away as Mexico and Japan to attempt the record.

Scientists have discovered a new type of virus, the biggest they have ever seen, and it is 10 to hundreds of times bigger than any other known virus. Pandoraviruses are unlike any known virus because 93 percent of the genes don’t match any other virus known to man.
