Proposed Bill To Make It Easier For Small Business To Raise Money For Charity

Last November, an Augusta restaurant, The Red Barn, was given a letter from Attorney General Janet Mills' office, telling the restaurant to stop their Monday night fundraisers. There is a bill that has been proposed by State Rep. Lori Fowle that would eliminate state regulation and licensing requirements for nonprofit fundraisers, unless the person raising the money is being paid.

The Ice Storm of 2013 resulted into over 100,000 CMP and Bangor Hydro customers to be without power, many for more than a few days. Work crews from CMP and Bangor Hydro and many work crews from out of state have been working around the clock to restore the power.

{UPDATED} The Red Barn Restaurant Noise Waiver Request Denied

The Red Barn in Augusta had it's request denied by the Augusta Planning Board last night by a 5 to 1 vote. The Red Barn was looking for a request to exceed the city's 60-decible noise limit during a weekly summer series of outdoor concerts.
