Winthrop police say four masked men barged their way into an elderly woman's apartment last weekend. The men knocked on the her door just after midnight on Sunday. When the 71 year old answered, the men forced their way in. They left after the woman gave them money from her purse. Police suspect the burglars were looking for prescription drugs.

Let's get ready to.... I can't finish that trade-marked catch phrase for legal reasons, but rumble strips are being planned on U.S. Route 202 in Winthrop. Town councilors, residents along the road and the Maine Department Of Transportation officials agreed to a plan to add rumble strips down the center line in the next construction season.

The Winthrop Lakes Region Chamber Of Commerce is looking for participants for it's 28th annual holiday parade set for December 1st on Main Street in Winthrop. Classic cars, dance troupes, foats, marching bands, music groups, scout troops and costumed characters are all needed.
