B98.5 is gearing up once again for its 15th annual “Tanksgiving” food drive, which will be running from Nov. 2-5.

Started in November 2000, the ‘B98.5 Tanksgiving Food Drive’ has become a Central Maine tradition. Through all types of weather, and with a lot of help, the ‘B98.5 Tanksgiving Food Drive’ has collected non-perishable food and thousands of dollars for Central Maine food banks.

The Tanksgiving food drive is being sponsored by the Maine Credit Union League's Campaign For Ending Hunger!

Over the years, the ‘B98.5 Tanksgiving Food Drive’ has evolved, growing into the area’s largest food drive, thanks to the generosity of our audience in Central Maine!

All of the money that is donated to the ‘B98.5 Tanksgiving Food Drive’ is pooled and donated to local food banks. For every dollar that is donated, its buying power expands, making that dollar, in the hands of a food bank, worth many times that amount.

“Over the years this food drive has helped thousands of people throughout Central Maine and beyond,” said Randy McCoy, co-host of the B98.5 ‘Morning Buzz.’ “The generous donations that are given every year help people that are less fortunate and going through tough times. We always say this 'local' food drive is neighbor helping neighbor. It helps local food banks supply Thanksgiving and Christmas meals so no-one will suffer through the holidays.”

B98.5 staff will be at the following locations to collect donations during the “Tanksgiving” food drive:

  • Monday, Nov. 2-Walmart in Augusta and Shaw’s in Waterville
  • Tuesday, Nov. 3-Goggin’s IGA in Randolph and George’s Banana Stand in Skowhegan
  • Wednesday, Nov. 4-Shaw’s in Augusta and Waterville
  • Thursday, Nov. 5 Walmart in Augusta and Walmart in Farmington

Once again, B98.5 will be working with the Salvation Army to collect food and monetary donations and the United Way of Kennebec Valley will be accepting monetary donations online at http://uwkv.org/Tanksgiving.
