Tanya Tucker wants her money back.

Earlier this year, the country great filed suit to reclaim money loaned to an entertainment lawyer in 2003. She sought just over $247,000 and it seems likely the defendant will be required to pay.

The Tennesseean reports that Tucker filed suit in Williamson County (Tenn.) Circuit Court in June. Joel Cherry never responded to the lawsuit, meaning Tucker was granted a default judgement. The next step is for the judge to decide how much of the original loan he'll need to come up with.

Willie Nelson, Tim McGraw and Reba McEntire are listed clients of Cherry's at his LinkedIn profile. He's listed as living in Savannah, Ga.

Earlier, he claimed financial difficulties were keeping him from paying Tucker back. He cites a divorce, college costs for his kids and an IRS settlement amongst his obligations in a letter to the singer's father that the Tennessean obtained.

In addition to his private-practice attorney job, the former corporate attorney worked for Gibson Guitar Corp. and Tractor Supply Co. at various times. He was also the head of business affairs at EMI Records from 1992-95.

The 54-year-old Tucker has been quiet in recent months and years. Her last studio album was 'My Turn' in 2009. Her official tour schedule is empty. Last October, she canceled a show scheduled for December for health reasons.
