In his second preseason game as a Chicago Bear, Maine's Matt Mulligan was the leading receiver in the Bears 20-19 win over Jacksonville.

Mulligan caught a team-high 4 passes for 39 yards, including one catch that help set up a late game touchdown.

With Zach Miller suffering a season ending foot injury, Mulligan is one of four tight ends on the Chicago roster.

Remember last season, the former Penobscot Valley HS athlete spent most of the year with the Patriots.

In other NFL news with Maine connections, former UMaine Black Bear Kendall James was among the leading tacklers in Minnesota's preseason win 30-28 over the Arizona Cardinals. James had four solo tackles, second most on the team.

James is a rookie cornerback trying to earn a spot on the Vikings.

NFL teams are now halfway through their preseason schedules.
