With snow already on the ground and daytime high temperatures often below the freezing mark, the United Way of Kennbec Valley with local partners are proud to announce that the Augusta Community Warming Center will be opening for the season on December 16, 2013.The warming center is located at 44 Front Street in Augusta and will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week starting December 16,2013 until March 30, 2014.

It's a free service operated by the United Way of Kennebec Valley with local partners.

People with limited finances that us the warming center are welcome to have lunch at the Bread of Life Ministries soup kitchen, located just down the street from the warming center, Monday through Saturday.

Organizations, churches and companies provide a noon meal for those using the warming center on Sundays.

A limited supply of clothes and blankets are also available.
