While 'The Expendables' has its Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, the franchise's female-dominated spinoff, 'The ExpendaBelles,' will soon start bulking up with its own ass-kickers, and it's now one step closer to making that happen. Robert Luketic has been hired to direct the film.

Deadline first broke the news of Luketic, who re-teams with writers Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah (the three of which worked together on 'Legally Blonde') for 'The ExpendaBelles.' This will certainly be a change for the guy who previously helmed 'Monster-in-Law,' 'Win a Date with Tad Hamilton' and 'The Ugly Truth.' Probably the closest thing he directed that's remotely close to 'The ExpendaBelles' was that counting-cards movie '21' or the recent Liam Hemsworth-led 'Paranoia.'

Here's the logline for the film:

When America’s Navy SEALs are wiped out trying to penetrate the island lair of a deadly despot who has captured one of the world’s top nuclear scientists, it becomes clear that there is no such thing as the right man for the job and that this is a mission so impossible that only women can handle it. The only way in: some of the world’s deadliest female operatives must pose as high-class call-girls shipped in by private plane to satisfy a dictator–and instead save the scientist and the day.

We certainly have our own picks as to who should be populate the cast of 'The ExpendaBelles' -- right off the bat, we're thinking Milla Jovovich, Sigourney Weaver, Ronda Rousey and Katee Sackhoff -- but producer Avi Lerner said he had been in talks with Meryl Streep, Cameron Diaz and Jovovich. People would surely pay top dollar to see the 'Iron Lady' herself poppin' some caps.

Stallone is also producing 'The ExpendaBelles' with Kevin King. No official release date has been set.
