With heating costs sky high, the Farmer's Almanac is predicting a bitterly cold and heavy snowfall for New England. The 197-year-old publication based in Lewiston,Maine has used a formula of planetary positions, sunspots and lunar cycles.Last year the Farmer's Almanac predicted cold weather for the northeast. The winter started off mild, then turned cold. They also were just a few days off on predicting the February blizzard and a sloppy storm the day before spring.

The Super Bowlis being played at the Meadowlands on February 2nd and the Farmer's Almanac is calling for cold weather with a storm.

The Farmer's Almanac will also feature gardening tips, nostalgia and home remedies. In this year's edition, editor Peter Geiger is calling for the United States to ditch the penny. he wants people to donate pennies to charity and then lobby Congress to stop making them.

Let's hope the Farmer's Almanac is wrong about this winter's weather in Maine!
