The FBI Raides the Scooter Store Headquarters in Texas for Medicare Fraud

The FBI raided the Scooter Store headquarters in Texas as the company is under investigation for illegally making hundreds of millions of dollars off the federal government and Medicare. Workers were told to leave the building immediately, but some were called back for interviews and most employees didn’t have any idea what was going on, they were handed a flyer telling them to contact the FBI for further information.

A former employee blew the whistle on the company last year when they said the company bullies doctors into writing prescriptions to boost profits. Medicare rarely checks to see if the chair is necessary and 80% of power chair payments go to the wrong people, people who don’t prove they need them or an error in payment.  The Scooter Store did agree to pay back $19.5 million last year but Medicare said they were owed $108 million.
