They’ve barely begun filming ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire‘ and we’re already reporting ‘Mockingjay‘ news! It looks like the two-part finale in the trilogy might be getting a little pedigree boost from Emmy-winning writer Danny Strong, who scripted the upcoming HBO flick ‘Game Change.’

The latest tribute to enter the realm of ‘The Hunger Games’ is Danny Strong, according to Variety. Strong penned the script for the HBO original film ‘Game Change’ for director Jay Roach. He also wrote the script for Roach’s ‘Recount,’ another HBO original film, and yes, another political drama. Also on his resume is the upcoming Lee Daniels White House drama ‘The Butler‘ and Mark Romanek’s ‘The Lost Symbol.’ (Fun trivia: You may also remember Strong from his recurring role on the ‘Buffy the Vampire’ TV show, in which he played creepy Jonathan, or more recently, his turn as Danny Siegel on ‘Mad Men.’)

But none of that matters now because Strong is taking his political prowess to the world of Panem as he’s been brought in to adapt ‘Mockingjay,’ which will be divided into two films for the ‘Hunger Games‘ finale, as is customary with all major YA franchises these days. Strong follows in the footsteps of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ scribe Simon Beaufoy, who wrote ‘Catching Fire’ for director Francis Lawrence, and Gary Ross, who wrote and directed ‘The Hunger Games’ first entry.

And there you have it. The first in roughly 12,000 ‘Mockingjay’ updates begins here.
