Snakes… creatures most people like to avoid. Florida is being over-run by snakes and is holding a month long snake hunt. Burmese pythons are ravaging the Everglades, eating everything in sight. So, there will be a month long hunt.  The entrance fee is $25 and 400 people have already signed up for the ‘python challenge’.

The state is conducting the hunt like a contest with the top prize for the largest snake being $1,500. The suggested way of disposing of the snakes is with a machete, but you can shoot them too.  The contest starts January 12 and the rules are simple…kill a python and drop it off at an official site within 24 hours of the kill. It all sounds good but Burmese pythons are very dangerous to humans especially when they are provoked.
