Telegrams in the United States haven’t been sent for years as the service was stopped, but in India, sending a telegram, to some, is still popular, but that is about to end. On July 14, the last telegram, anywhere in the world, will be sent and that will end the service for good.

With $23 million a year in losses because of texting and smart phones, telegrams have become obsolete. India’s state owned telecom company has been holding out as other countries around the world have dropped telegrams but on July 14, someone somewhere in India will tap out the last one forever.
