The #PTOreject Takes On Teens & Promise Rings

What the what?  Teens exchanging 'promise rings'.  I've noticed a trend on Facebook over the weekend.  Quite a few teenagers exchanged promise rings with their gf/bf or gf/gf or bf/bf.  They are in high school...what could they possibly be 'promising' each other??  Do they even realize what they're 'promising'?  Are they truly ready for that kind of commitment?  Or are they only promising until they no longer want to promise anymore?  Call me old fashion.

Here's my rant...

Most of these kids don't even have JOBS...so who's left paying for the promise?  Does the 'promise engagement' go something like 'I don't even buy my own socks or underwear...here's a ring my mom bought for me to give you'.  Are we, as parents, encouraging this because 'it's cute'?  I don't follow.  Go to our Facebook page and tell me what you think.
