The Search Is On For Maine’s Best Grocery Bagger
Paper or plastic? That question is almost never heard anymore as now many shoppers bring in reusable bags or plastic bags. I know that when I am checking out at the supermarket, if there is nobody to bag my groceries, I start to do it and I would have no chance at winning the title of best bagger! The Maine Grocers and Food Producers Association will be holding their first annual Maine Best Bagger Contest in September.
The event will be held on September 9, 2014, during the 6th Annual Maine Food Means Business 2014 Summit at the Hilton Garden Inn of Freeport.
So what makes a great grocery bagger? They’ll be judged by a national criteria that include speed, proper bag building technique, distribution of weight between bags, style, attitude and appearance.
The winner will get a free trip to Las Vegas to represent Maine at the 2015 National Competition at the National Grocer Association Forum in February 2015 and will compete for the $10,000 grand prize!
