Dry conditions continue around the state and means there is a danger of fire. The Maine Forrest Service has Central Maine at ‘High’ but the entire state is moderate to moderate to high.

CMP is warning people again of another phone scam where the caller is claiming to be from the company and demanding payment.  According to WCSH, they also demand payment of a prepaid card. Here Central Maine Power has advice on how to avoid scams.

Maine’s Stolen Valor Law is in effect. According to WABI, this makes it illegal to impersonate a veteran for gain.

Maine’s only insurance co-op is suing the federal government. According to the Bangor Daily News, Community Health Options says the feds owe them $23M in payments.

Summit Natural Gas of Maine has agreed to pay the state a $307,000 fine for safety violations, including a potentially 'catastrophic' gas leak in Augusta. The state Public Utilities Commission says the violations stem from construction work performed by the natural gas company and its subcontractors beginning in 2013.

Donald Trump is blaming media bias for the uproar over his comments about the Second Amendment. At a Trump appearance, he told the crowd that there was nothing they could do if Hillary Clinton became president and stacked the Supreme Court with anti-gun justices. Then Trump said, "Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is — I don't know." Trump later told Fox News that he was referring to the power that voters hold and that he was not encouraging violence.

Canada's national police say they've stopped a suicide bombing from happening by killing the man accused of planning it. A senior police official says Aaron Driver, who was in his mid-20s, was killed in a police operation. Driver had been under a court order not to associate with any terrorist organization.

The White House isn't commenting on Donald Trump's accusations that President Barack Obama founded the Islamic State group. Trump told a rally in Florida Wednesday that Obama "is the founder of ISIS." In the past, Trump has accused Obama's former secretary of state and Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton of founding the militant group.
