Looking to cut its budget by $750,000, the Waterville city council will hold a workshop tonight. According to centralmaine.com, they are looking at cutting that from the municipal budget.

City of Augusta is looking at spending $80,000 on a portable stage to be used in Waterfront Park for concert, as well as other locations a stage might be needed in the city.  According to centrlmaine.com the stage is part of a capital improvements suggested for 2017.

RSU 18 is trying an alternative method of keeping athletic fields green in an effort to reduce chemical use and save money. They will try  "overseeding" on three fields in the Oakland-area district. Maine's Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry says the study will be completed next year and it is showing promise thus far.

The Bicycle Coalition of Maine is developing an online "Where to Ride Guide" that will seek to provide cyclists with a database of rides and destinations as well as bicycle-friendly businesses.

Residents and businesses in the Big Bend and Panhandle areas of Florida are bracing for a weather system that's expected to bring heavy rains and trigger flooding this week along the Gulf Coast. The forecast calls for 10-15 inches of rain from Tampa to Pensacola over the next five days with isolated areas receiving more than 18 inches. Flash flooding may also occur in some areas.

Dozens of people are protesting over the police shooting of an 18-year-old black man in Chicago. The protesters gathered Sunday evening in Millennium Park, then began marching through downtown. The demonstration comes two days after police released video showing the shooting of Paul O'Neal, who was a suspect in a car theft. But none of the footage from last month shows the moment he was shot in the back.

American voters will learn more about the leading presidential candidates' economic plans this week. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton will deliver what aides are billing as a major economic speech on Thursday in Detroit. Clinton's appearance is set to follow a speech planned by Republican rival Donald Trump on what he would do to improve economic growth. Trump's speech is set for Monday in the same city.
