The Honor Flight fund raiser at the Red Barn Monday raised over $13,000.  According to their Facebook page, that amount is still growing.

A gas station attendant was assaulted in Skowhegan and the person off with an undisclosed amount of money. According to WABI, it happened around 6.20 Monday morning. Anyone with information is asked to call the police.

From the Associated Press, BFive Maine fire departments will receive more than a half million dollars in federal money so they can buy equipment and improve training. The fire departments are located in Farmingdale , Caribou, Fort Kent, Dixfield, and Aurora.

So far, a Native American tribe and a Portland resident have taken up Maine's offer to grow what would be the state's first-ever licensed crops of industrial hemp. Supporters say the state has been very slow in getting the crop going.

Authorities say a Gardiner man burned down the camper trailer that his former boss lived in and has been arrested for arson. Investigators say the fire appeared to be set to cover up theft of tools from the camper.

Gas prices are dropping in northern New England. GasBuddy surveys show the average retail price in Maine has fallen 2.9 cents to $2.29. The national average of $2.23 has fallen 3.4 cents during the last week and stands 53.2 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

Maine wildlife regulators may increase the number of deer hunting permits by 60 percent this year. The moderate winter was mild for the deer as well and allowed for the increase in hunting permits. Online applications are due by the end of the day on Aug. 15 and paper applications must be submitted in person or by mail no later than 5 p.m. July 29.

More than 1,000 people gathered in downtown Dallas Monday night for a candlelight vigil for the five police officers killed in last week's ambush during a protest march. Dallas Area Rapid Transit Police Chief J.D. Spiller told the gathering that the attacks won't tear the city apart. On Tuesday, a public memorial will be held. President Barack Obama and former President George W. Bush will be there.

A new report by a panel of retired judges says San Francisco police officers disproportionately stop and search African-Americans and Latinos and the department lacks robust oversight and transparency. The three-judge panel was put together by District Attorney George Gascon after a series of racist and homophobic text messages exchanged by 14 police officers were made public in April 2015.

Officials in Iraq say at least 11 people are dead in a car bombing in Baghdad. Officials say the attack happened at an outdoor market in a Shiite-dominated district in the northeastern part of the capital.
