Black Lives Matter rally in Lewiston was peaceful and crated some dialog. According to WCSH others showed up in disagreement with the message of the rally, but organizers were adamant about keeping this rally peaceful - and it even led to some productive dialogue.

It's was blazing hot in northern New England Friday but it's not record-breaking hot. The temperature hit 90’s degrees Friday across much of the region. But Northern New England saw 100 degrees on the same date in 2011.

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry says people who're ill shouldn't attend fairs to avoid sickening both human and animals. Last year, health officials investigated but were unable to determine whether two toddlers including one who died, were exposed at a fair in western Maine.

The Coast Guard is warning kayakers, canoeists and paddleboard users to be prepared before venturing out amid a rise in deaths on the water since last fall. Officials say 18 paddlers have died in New England since October.

The Maine Governor's Energy Office says high gas inventories have contributed to a dip in price of heating fuel in Maine. The average price for heating oil slipped two cents to $1.91 per gallon, Kerosene and propane are down a few cents, too.

The Democratic National Convention gets underway in Philadelphia on Monday amid fractures appearing in the party that had been trying to display a show of unity in recent weeks. Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigned Sunday as Democratic Party chair over an email suggesting the DNC had favored Hillary Clinton during the primaries. And big demonstrations are planned, many driven by Bernie Sanders supporters.
