Parts of southern New England could see the first brief snowfall of the year. The National Weather Service says a cold snap and a front may conspire to bring a little snow to portions of Connecticut and Massachusetts on Thursday. Forecasters say any snow won't last long before it melts or is washed away by rain.

A new Associated Press-Gfk poll shows Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump 51-37 percent among likely voters. The 14-point spread is the largest of recent national surveys. Most have shown Clinton ahead of Trump in the past several weeks. Clinton has the support of 90 percent of likely Democratic voters, and also has the backing of 15 percent of more moderate Republicans.

The mayor of a town in central Italy says aftershocks have caused major structural damage to a church, parish and other buildings in Ussita. It's located in a small valley. Experts say two strong aftershocks in the region struck other towns as well, destroying buildings and striking fear in residents. The aftershocks are related to the Aug. 24 quake that killed nearly 300 people.
