There was a terrible accident at Belmont Park in New York on January 6th as two race horses collided and died instantly. The two horses involved were up and coming 4 year colt Six Drivers and a multi stakes winning thoroughbred Caixa Electronica.

New York Racing Associating spokesperson Eric Wing said it was a freak accident that very, very rarely happens. It happened at a training track at Belmont when Six Drivers threw its jockey and started running in the opposite direction, directly into a crowd of horses running in the right direction.

Six Drivers crashed into Caixa Electronica and both horses died instantly. Six Drivers fractured his neck and Caixa suffered a skull fracture. Caixa Electronica’s jockey, Carlos Castro, was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
