Turner Farm Named ‘Homesteaders of the Year’

Mother Earth News is the magazine giving out the award.  Nezinscot Farm sounds like a great place. According to their website Nezinscot Farm began as the first Organic Dairy in the state of Maine. The owners have expanded to have a gourmet food shop, a cafe and Bakery, a cheese shop, a sausage/meats shop and a fiber shop.

The owners, Gregg & Gloria Varney, even offer farm stays and retreats. And according to the Sun Journal have had apprentices on the farm and helped other farmers start on their path to farming.

Sounds like a great place. Congratulations on the honor and I think I see a road trip in my future to a farm in Turner.
