The man best known for presiding over the People's Court from 1981 to 1993 has passed away at the age of 97.

Born in Los Angeles on November 25th, 1919, Joseph Wapner attended USM for his under graduate and law degrees.

He also served in the United States Army during World War 2 where he was the recipient of a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.

Wapner spent 20 years as a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge before retiring to become the first reality
