A lot of people are planning to get married this year.  Some brides stay traditional and go with the white dress and church wedding.  Or the usual activities like the first dance and cutting the cake.  Then there are some brides who want their weddings to be different from all the rest.

I married my husband 2 1/2 years ago.  We went small and simple. I got a lot of my ideas from Pinterest.  I didn't wear a white dress...in fact it was silver.  No veil, but I did wear a tiara (of course).  When I walked down the aisle, my oldest son, gave me away.  That was special.  Our Chloe was a butterfly.  My brother-in-law played the guitar and sang "Marry Me" by Train.  It was beautiful.

When it was time to do our vows, we wrote our own.  But it wasn't your usual vows.  Being our second marriages, we had already done the "love, honor and cherish until death" vows and clearly those didn't stick.  So with these vows, we took the little quirks that irritate us the most and put a loving twist on it.  For example, I told my husband I would let him be the keeper of the remote and eat chips in bed if he promised to kill spiders for me.  We had some more serious stuff as well.

Since we were becoming a blended family, we also had vows that we said with the kids.  But I think one thing that will stand out the most was our first dance.  We didn't actually dance together.  We had 2 beautiful dancers, Bri Killam and Riley Hopkins from Dance Unlimited dance to "Bless the Broken Road" from Rascal Flats.  Bri is my husband's step-daughter and it was very special having her dance for us.
