I was reading about a ‘poo museum’ that opened in England and it made wonder about some unusual attractions in Maine. And there are some, some you just take for granted.

On Riverside Drive in Augusta about two mile north of the new bridge is the 15 foot tall Big Boyz Worker Statue. It has a droopy mustache, Popeye arms and a huge head. It sits in a parking lot behind an old abandoned building.

In Belfast, Maine is the rooftop elephant named ‘Hawthore II it sits on top of the Colonial Theater in downtown.

In Eastport, Maine is Bear Head Rock. It’s seen from the pier at the Eastport Chowder House next to the Ferry Landing. You can walk down to the ferry loading area to see it to.

In Monmouth you can see the Big Chicken Statue which has been a landmark for more than 40 years. The chicken’s beak was chain sawed off at one point but has since been fixed.

In Pittsfield, Maine is the World’s Largest Non-Stick Frying Pan. It’s ten feet across and brought oput of storage once a year during the Central Maine Egg Festival.

In Union, Maine is the Moxie Bottle House. It at the Union Fairgrounds and is available by appointment or you can see it July and August.
